SCMF devBlog: Zooming Along

Continuing to look forward..

OK first off..

I have two new vinyl releases of old material otw! I’m going to be disembarking from SoundCloud soon and they told me they will delete everything. So, outside of the obvious need to download everything, I have the idea of following up my last vinyl release with these two. I’ve really come to respect vinyl as a forever(ish) format, and while it won’t be cheap for me to pick these two up, I honestly can’t wait to hear them on my record player!

Now for SnowCone MathFest Simulator…

I did the first ever phone test today and it was a real testament to my familiarity with the process that I was able to test through it so smoothly. I learned a little bit about doing it from Unity, but the lesson has stuck and I now have a working pocket version of this game to show off and further conceptualize.

This biggest addition recently? ZOOOOOOM. You can click on things now. They have popups, and you have the option to zoom in and follow and see what’s up. Honestly, for me, this is a huge moment that I have been patiently waiting for.

I’m just following the directive at this point. Little by little I’m conquering this thing. My Attendees and Residents are following hourly schedules and ping ponging zones when needed, and along with my zones they have pop ups that help the user zoom in for more detail. I have so many ideas about what those details could be. I’m thinking about how my camera is moving now and about how I might tell a SCMF story.

I never thought my original game SnowCone MathFest would continue on, but it is really sticking around in a big way. Someone close to me even referenced it today, thinking they could use it to play math, and that’s the thing it actually does best.
