Yay! One small thing at a time, and I can keep this thing going. I took a nice 4-5 day break because I reached a really great stopping point when it comes to the residents and attendee control.
Tonight we see no attendees going to the tent zone at all…they really have no need, since they leave at 2AM and I wanted to test that I could actually control that.
The other thing you may notice is that the ghosts no longer trample directly over the HQ SnowCone truck in order to get to and from the Math zone. This is the major (yet minor) upgrade of the evening and although the system isn’t really working as intended, the final effect works, and then is giving me some ideas about how I can control attendee wandering, without putting them on more specific rails.
Once I get them walking right, I want to get the attendee stand lines under control. Right now, ghosts (attendees) cannot really stop anywhere for long, either that, or I am not fully utilizing the system that is in place. but I need them…at times standing in line..
This game is tough to develop for me because there are a lot of spinning plates and if I try to do too much at once, even just doing two things at once, it kind of messes things up. Specificity is very important in this step. No system overhauls allowed, I have to be damned and connected with what I have, or really consider big changes with a nuke button in mind.
This project could fail at any point, but it really could work if I can have the patience. I have so much more control over the residents that I know I need to model the attendees more, but do I really want to switch to an hourly positioning system for the attendees also? I always thought of them as more flippant, and could just kind of live by dice rolls as to where they are and where they stay.
I really want to get the UI movement to a point where I can adjust the controls that I’ve created for myself in Unity, instead of needing more code help from Patch. That being said, the system in place DOES have some flexibility that I want to keep playing with, but for now, I’m tired.
It’s good to be back and getting these characters to not trample all over my zones!!
