SCMF devBlog: Into the Tent

There are so many successes contained in this picture that I felt like it was worth the mention. You think you are just seeing a tent, but if you look closer…you’ll see a tiny foot!

Tonights wins:

  • I have three layers working right now, with a decent sense of how the system works. World back, characters, world front. I’m sure the system will get more complex as we go, but the fact that you can’t see how many people are behind that ten door, is the in. (they are sleeping zzzzz)
  • Next? I added the other character types to the simulation just to prove to myself that I could have 5 people running around. they are all rough drafts, please don’t judge them, but pretty much nothing in this game is drawn by Ai. I’m sure i’ll have to rework the wiring eventually but maybe not.
  • My line positioning system is working now as well. The character are going where I need them to go and when. I’ve got a little bit of a cross system going on with the residents that (literally) just made sense to me as I typed this out. I forgot that I wanted the residents to have a different system..well..they still do..It isn’t what I wanted when i made it but perhaps it has officially been repurposed!

So anyway, as I look at these wins, I see the process again. I was literally ready to hang up the towel last yesterday on this entire experiment. That was probably just me getting frustrated that the vibe coding thing didn’t work. I still don’t see how you would ever get what YOU see. I hear vision and all that, but my vision NEVER gets matched by Ai. I think I came close a couple times with Grampy P and Jehnk in SnowCone MathFest, but even then, Patch could never get them good the same two times in a row. Ai, for me, is not the future of the visual arts. I could rant as to why I think this, but in the end I just want to draw everything for this game and I love that.
