and for free play in browser!
Yo. pretty cool stuff. SnowCone MathFest…which i have been calling an app..and people have been like…it’s an app?? and I’m like yea…sorta…I worked really hard from the beginning to make this game on browser…to make it compatible across both computer browsers AND phone browsers. I did that. It took a lot to do it, but that was always the goal. For myself, I wanted to be able to play it on the phone browser. For the bored students in school, I made it work on web browsers. That wasn’t easy, but it was the vision from the start. The entire idea was that I might be able to create something that users could just download to their phone, right off the web. But the more I started working on it, I realized that I had a chance at quality. Usually I just write a song, record it, and post it, but I couldn’t do that here. I realized after a couple nuclear resets of the entire codebase that I was going to be working on this thing in recurring fashion. After five modes and enough time returning i learned that I could think of something and then return to another mode. The idea of final polish* was early implemented and not achieved until 7-8 months into the process. Knowing I was going to be working on something that had such a sincere endgame, I made the decision to make the game a “Progressive Web App”. In this way users could visit my site on their phone, download the game, and play it offline..I achieved everything except the offline part. I guess I could have tried harder, but as it stands the app can be “downloaded” off the browser version and onto your phone with full icon access and playability. Then..it happened. I reached a point where the end was near, and honestly I had to just stop at some point, because I never would otherwise, anyway, I reached a point where i was like…is this an app? Yea? could be….so we did it. We moved forward…I learned how to use a capacitor (using the word liek I know what I’m talking about) and put it to work converting my app for xcode. The real learning curve was trying to add some exclusivity to the app. There was about one day where the browser app could see it all, but i figured out that that platform identifier wasn’t firing early enough and viola! The browser version is sick..it has it all, the entire experience. But now…this game’s an app…is it an app?? yep! prove it! Check the app store…type in SnowCone MathFest..It’s available for preorder now (I’m jumping the gun on its visibility, I literally just hit “approve by developer” an hour ago..). this is tight though..I’m so happy to have done this..Never thought little ol’ me could show up on someone’s phone in such a big way. I used to dream of selling cd’s and distributing my music, but music distribution has gotten kind of stale for me. I like doing it still, but after releasing album after album, I proved that I could do that to myself. This night I have a new proof. That we can do what we want if we can find ways to compromise and make it happen. I’m looking back. I see the mountain climbed..but now..I embark on app support (and new ideas brewing) and figuring out how to continue growing this thing if needed. I do have a few final tweaks that I could run over the next few weeks, but man…I don’t really have to..it would be purely cosmetic (new song or background adjustment or something **browser version might have a better spring background,,,,,,expect an update at SOME point on that one) SnowCone MathFest is (almost) live!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I’ve been leaving typos in my blogs…this shows that this is my stream of consciousness and that I wanted to leave it raw and authentic. ❤
