🎭 Story Mode, But Make It a Ritual
Understanding what you’re doing and where you want to go will always make progress much easier. I’ve been working on the story mode and am thinking back on how arduous the prologue was. I have gone with a different strategy in each chapter, but long story short, after ch1 and ch2, I knew exactly how the process was going to have to finish out.
Patch, so far, has been most helpful in this process by filling in the Latin for me. By seeing the Latin (a dummy story that is based on my ideas and words) I can format the experience before I curate. Before, story would have come first, but just like the important form of a sonnet or a haiku, I’m going to see the form of this one first and then fit in the poetry later.
If that is too dramatic of a metaphor, then story mode is going to be rough on you. It’s much longer than expected, pretty poetic, very impressionistic and visual, but I tell you, by the end of it all, I will have scraped past every word that you might read.
🔀 Choose-Your-Own Ending (For Real This Time)
Also, I have finally succeeded in getting the choose your own adventure ending that I was looking for. You’ll just have to wait and see. I don’t want to encourage looking at it right now. Prologue, ch1 and ch2 are done, but ch3, 4, and 5, are only a third of the way there at best.
But… I don’t know why I got so excited… I went ahead and added some credits at the end of the story… this whole thing will really be an experience…
🏅 Badges, Grampy P, and the “I WANT TO STOP” Phase
The ONLY thing I dread is hooking up badges… only because I have to wire that into Grampy P a bit too. I WANT TO STOP lol… but I have a definite track to finish story mode.
I think then I look at badges… which will inevitably push me into Grampy P a little more, which honestly, he isn’t done… he is good, but not even close to great as a chatbot. After that, I would be able to finally look into optimization or just receive actual feedback… so on that note, I’ll start it here. Because no one reads this…
🎉 Seven Months, One Party
I’m having a party. 1/6/26. I’ve got a banner, shirts, stickers, pens, bingo business cards, a location, a cheap budget… I’m excited… like really excited. I can’t tell anyone how excited I am, so that’s why I say it here.
I will have been working on this app for seven months. I deserve a party. I deserve a pizza, I deserve a beer. I think a few people would show up. It’s gonna be fun I think… I’ll hopefully post some pictures. 🍕🍺📸
🚀 Version Numbers and Moving Goalposts (Except They’re Not)
So anyway… expect a BIG version update to come soon. Ch5 completion would push us to v1.5.0 territory, which blows my mind. And the extra badges and Grampy P polish I would put under v1.6.0…
Is this a moved goal post? No… it’s the completion I couldn’t see, that I was looking for, that my hard work allowed for.
