Dude… v0.9.4 snuck up on me!
I’m like still working on Grampy P and his responses — which I have to say are more plentiful than ever. But the more I add, the more I realize how close I am to finishing this project.
Or at least that’s what I thought.
Grampy P will go as far as I want to take him, and honestly, I’m just not sure it is that much farther from a coding standpoint.
I’ve been just trying to find ideas and add to them.
My crowning Pythagorus Cat achievement is that when you ask him “How are you?” he responds, then ask “you?” and then he can respond to a variety of moods of the user.
Those are the back-and-forths I really want to find more of, but when I code them randomly, things get cluttered quickly.
So as I realized Grampy P could just receive periodic updates, I started tinkering, with very sleepy eyes, on the other modes. I knew I wanted to change the Back to Menu button to a more subtle bottom-left-corner button — and I did it, with seemingly no global issues.
Each mode got these little updates that I really thought were gonna take longer.
QuickServe got the best of it: the high score is working again and there are some bangin’ new sine lines behind Cosmic Phil to help with his stage presence and light show (Patch v3 had way more trouble than v5).
So here I am… sitting at what looks like a done(ish) app.

🧠 Protecting Grampy P (For Now)
I’m not sure why I’m protecting Grampy P from being published, but in my heart I do know.
He isn’t quite done… He’s close, but my procrastination paid off this evening.
The other modes got some important visual and functional updates.
I really thought I was done, but as I look at the road map, there are still some welcome challenges.
I could easily do what I always do and just hit the publish button, but it looks like I just helped my dev cycle out a ton tonight.
Finish Grampy P… got it.
I don’t know if I will add more badges… I might… but honestly, then I would have to add backgrounds… sounds like more (and possibly fun) work.
The system is in place — I just have to put them in and test them.
The hard part would be making sure the completion % and 100% completion badge all recognize the new ones. It could be done.
Music and SFX need a little polish… I agree with my past self here.
🎵 The Soundtrack & The Celebrations
This is also where I talk again about the upcoming JPS Grooves release — SnowCone MathFest Soundtrack.
That will be cool. Hopefully it all works out.
But the app could also use a few more celebrations and confettis.
Those visual feedback loops are important to me and were a big element of the first build of this game.
After all that… I guess I could clean up the code.
My CSS got really lazy here at the end and has a TON of junk.
🏕️ Closing Thoughts
Anyway, sorry for all the dev talk.
I’m excited though. I might be able to put this app down soon.
Play some other game… read a book… play guitar… idk.
I’ve really enjoyed this creation process.
If only it could make me money somehow lol.
