❄️ The First Character

The first character of this game was definitely a SnowCone. Soon after, when beginnign story mode, I realized there was a narrator, a truck driver, the serve of the cones..who was he serving to though? Well I soon after discovered that he was not only work at, but the general organizer, of SnowCone MathFest. Much later, I found out his name was Jehnk.

👻 Who Was He Serving?

Who was he serving? Math Ghosts..famous personalities that have helped to move the human thought train forward in fabulous ways. Hardly “characters”, these were real people..but for the purposes of my game, it may just be ghosts that look like them, it might be them, who knows..These Ghosts though, needed some entertainment: enter Cosmic Phil, Infinity Triplets, and the Dino Dividers.

🎭 Familiar Faces

I’ve spent so much time with these characters that the semiotic experience, that first time feeling, is completely gone. I’ve seen their shows time and time again…But there is a final character who can now manage his mode with the best of them..His name? he goes by many names.

🐱 Name, Lore, and Vibes

Someone close to me affectionately named him Grampy P, and I love it..it stuck..but if you need the lore…His name is Pythagorus Cat. He’s been around since I was like 17, just hanging, being an alley cat. It wasn’t until recently P Cat got a new gig. A new lease on life.

🧵 The Build Journey

It has taken some time though…I went from simple bot, to semi AI, to integrated (and failed) AI, to developing 10000 lines of code of the course of two weeks to develop a language learning model ( Patch held that carrot for a while) and then I realized that would never work.

🧭 Finding the Shape

I settled on a QA bot style, but realized…I needed all the other modes done..I did that (mostly. we are in final polish phases)…I added badges, everything..I’ve been working so hard on not only getting him to work, but thinking about the best presentations and struggling when PAtch wants to do it a wrong way; I’ve been thinking about the depths of his booths…but I mean for real..if you want a chatbot..chatGPT is there..Grampy P?

🎪 What Grampy P Offers

he offeres small talk, exclusive festival lore, jokes, secrets, math lessons that tie directly into the approprate math quiz booth (and eventaully fully fleshed out) recipes! He can tell you your status in the game, and if you can figure out how to navigate him, he might actually teach you somehting (use the hints in quiz mode). I mean holy cow..this wasn’t easy, took a lot of testing, but now I got Grampy P right where i need him. his brain uses state of the art Booth Technology mixed with small talk directives, AND a fully functional verbal calculator.

🧮 Try Him: Quick Math

Go ahead. Ask him about your restaurant top: 20% of $50, and he’ll answer. or percent cahgne from 50 to 70 and he’s got you. he can even tell you the answer to “27% off $60”, for that shirt you want to buy.

🧠 What’s Next (Memory + Booths)

And the best part?? He’s only just begun to live. I want to field test the crap out of his small tlak brain, as it is pretty darn easy to asnwer direct response questions. It’s only when he has to remember and respond back to the user that it becomes more code intensive. his memory is really going to be the interesting part; grampy P might be capable, but I don’t want to spend too much time trying to create a chat bot…HIs main function is in his booth. The easter eggs will be there for those who want to look for them.

✍️ Voice, Vibe, and Writing

The real goal now, is to expand the booth literature to represent my voice now. Grampy P certainly has a vibe and a voice rn, but he still sounds like a robot in some spots. HE might as well have placeholder latin in right now, and I intend to expand upon the template I have made for myself. MY writing brain is just tingling with excitement that I will get to wire a chatbot with my own thoughts and words.

🌙 Tonight’s Win

It has taken a long time to get to this point..and there is still a good bit a work and testing left to do..but tonight, is the culmination of a certain type of persistence actually paying off. I got some work done..I’ve trusted the process…and we got some stuff done tonight!!
