🏕 Kids Camping: Still Not 0.6.8, and I’m Okay With That

Alright, so this is why I don’t lock in version steps until I’m absolutely ready.
Last blog I called Kids Camping v0.6.8.
Now? I’m convinced it’s actually v0.6.6.

Why?
Because I moved those damn goalposts again. Not in some dramatic “burn it down” way — more like a quiet “eh, just one more thing” shuffle.

🐜 Ant Game – Polished and Locked

I always knew I wanted to add some CSS polish to the Ant Game. Logic-wise, it’s fully locked in now. The red ants will win eventually, but with careful planning — and knowing about that green egg +10 ant bonus — you shouldn’t have trouble stealing food from them.

I wrapped that up, and I should have stopped there.
I should have.

✏️ Tent Game – The Green Line Saga

I looked over at the tent game’s green line and thought…

“I’m using GSAP now… I bet I can make that line look cooler.”

That was easy.
Then my tiny testers lit up with requests — so I added the “All Tents Lit” option.

While I thought about making more complex line patterns… nope.
The “All Tents Lit” button took me four hours.
Four. Hours.

Some tense AI model decisions were made. Patch (now on v5) can be brilliant, but sometimes it feels like he’s trying to outdo Grok in unhelpful ways. I had to give him the classic reminder:

“You could probably take over the world, Patch…
you could invent a new metal alloy…
but you will never, ever, make this app.
I’m making this thing.”

🎯 Dev Mood Swing

I was this close to quitting and writing a blog about being a failure tonight.
But, in true dev fashion, the damn broke — and I was rewarded with moving green lines and a new way to play one of my favorite little games in this app.

The ants still try to steal my food.
I still know their patterns.
They don’t stand a chance.

Except tonight, they laughed at me while I wrestled with tent game bugs.
Never again.
Now I’ll be swiping, lighting tents, and sending out black ants to snag those precious festival foods from the glowing red army.

🌐 Website Facelift

I also took some feedback to heart — gave my website a facelift. Watching people use it, I saw where it was clunky. Now it should be way easier to navigate and find all my art.

And yes, sorry for all the donation/pay speech stuff.
I do have a job. That job funds all this.
It would be cool if the art funded the art, though.

What do I pay for?

  • Yearly website hosting & domain
  • SoundCloud storage & distribution
  • Two different AI chat models
  • Plus various one-time tools & licenses to make this all happen

It’s all just tools to realize my art, and I pay it willingly. But hey… if anyone wanted to support me, I could make even crazier music and games knowing I didn’t have to keep paying off school loans.

💡 Why It’s All Free

BAH! I don’t do this for the money.
If I did, it wouldn’t all be free.
But nothing in life is free — so here we are.

📅 Release Date: January 1, 2026

Very productive day.
This weekend? I need to get my mind right.
Been a little too obsessed with finishing this app lately.
