Today was interesting…
I went to work on QuickServe Mode.
Things were going fine.
Then… I decided to add music.
I was in there, man… building a stage for Cosmic Phil, bringing his 1:45 minute musical sets to life.
I was like, “Man… I want variety…“
So I added tracks. Added logic. Added life.
Then…
I went to actually test the whole app.
And…
BRO.
I realized…
I had broken my beloved jukebox.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
That thing was my little Options Modal baby idea.
Where a user could go… if I ever had a fan of the tracks… to listen… to jam… just vibe.
But now?
Gone. Gutted. Empty. No tracks. No functionality. Broken.
How??
I’m not gonna blame Patch for this.
He’s a tool. Literally.
I’m the creator.
I closed my eyes while I was cutting the wood for the stage…
And didn’t realize…
I was building with wood someone was handing me from the Cosmic Modal section of the festival.
ALL MODES SEPARATE
That was supposed to be my modus operandi.
But I forgot.
I broke my own rule.
I created two hours of extra work for myself today because of that.
So back to work I went on the jukebox…
To fix it.
Me and Patch circled around in JS for like an hour… maybe more…
Then…
Through a series of new tests…
We determined:
It wasn’t the buttons this time…
It wasn’t even the JS…
It was CSS… ALL ALONG.
No error codes.
No warnings.
No console logs.
It had to be CSS.
It was CSS.
Fixed it!
Jukebox is now neon-empowered and toggleable.
I even added a tracklist!
(Patch’s random flex during a refactor… but you know what… I liked it… I can’t slow him down all the time… sometimes… he does more… and I like it…)
This time… his “more”… I didn’t like… it broke my jukebox…
But it also gave me an opportunity to build it up again…
And make it better than before.
Yesterday’s gone.
QuickServe Mode?
Far from a job I’ll finish tonight.
And the work I do from here on out?
It’s gotta be intentional with every step now.
I knew this point would come.
That moment where I stop asking for full refactors… and start reading code… and changing lines… one by one…
Once QuickServe is done?
It lays the foundation for the other modes.
Kids Mode?
I say this now… it’s just for fun. Should be pretty easy.
MathTips?
Grandpa P… P-Cat… he’s chillin… he’s got some memory problems… but I’ll fix his brain soon.
Infinity Mode?
I’m thinking of a new character set already…
Twins.
That’s all I’ll say for now…
The late night DJ set down by Infinity Lake…
It’s gonna rage until the sunrises.
Infinity Lake is getting fed directly from the ocean of code that’s flowing out of QuickServe Pavilion.
Story Mode?
I was talking with my bro today…
He likes the choose-your-own-adventure style of play I’m planning.
And man…
As a writer… I can’t wait to wander into Story Mode Forest.
💡 Final Thought?
I might not be able to fix the CSS grid frame directly to the background PNG…
But I’ve got it pretty well adjusted in game modes..
AS LONG AS THE INTERNAL SCALING IS INTACT…
If nothing pushes the grid outward… it stays in line.
So that’s the plan:
Attack the innards… judge the outers by that… whatever that means…
V0.5.0!!!
I really do actually feel halfway there.
