🌀 v0.3.0 – Transitions & Transience (June 21, 2025)

Tonight was all about transitions. I guess life is full of ’em. Opening the gates to all five game modes today? That should’ve felt like enough… but I knew deep down there had to be a moment in-between. A little visual breath where the player knows: “Yo, we’re moving. Something new is coming.”

That’s what this update is about — adding the carry phase from scene to scene.
Like walking through one of those glowing arches at a music festival, or sliding across time in the back of a snow cone truck powered by math and neon stardust. 🛻✨🍧

🎬 What’s New in v0.3.0?

  • Transition System Overhaul:
The snow cone now glides across the bottom of the screen while a truck zooms across the top — all over a galaxy of twinkling starfields. That’s how every mode change works now.
  • Startup Experience:
When you launch the app, the stars fade in… then the SnowCone logo floats up just a bit… and the whole thing fades clean into the main menu.
A proper opening moment for a festival, ya know?
  • Modal Bugs? Squashed:
Cleaned up some weird modal overlaps (title PNG now opens the correct modal again, no cosmic weirdness unless requested 😤)
  • Mobile Adjustments:
On phones, the truck and cone scale up so they don’t feel dinky. Still keeping it classy on desktop, though.
  • Menu Logic Refactored:
All those mode labels now flow through the new transition system — no jank, no shortcuts.

✨ Life Update (Because It’s All Connected)

Two of my favorite local spots — my dive bar and my car shop — shut down this month. Real ones. Trusted. Gone.

But maybe that’s what a transition really is — a door closing for one person, and opening for another. Schrödinger’s mechanic, Schrödinger’s bar. The world keeps sliding forward whether you’re ready or not.

Thankfully, code is different.
It breaks a hundred times, but when it finally clicks… that logic holds. It’s a rare kind of certainty, and I’m grateful for it tonight.

📌 What’s Next?

I’m officially entering the “Work on a Mode” phase.
Quick Serve is up next — the real deal.
I want it flowing, reactive, and dripping with cone-stack math energy.

I don’t know what I’ll polish next, but for now? I’m just glad it feels good again.

That’s always good.
